KNOTT: Conrad Knott of Brandon passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, August 10, 2009 at the age of 81 with his wife Emily at his side. Conrad was born in Grand Marais, Manitoba on July 25th, 1928 to Wilfred and Christina Knott. He met his wife Emily Widomski in Powerview, Manitoba where he was working at the Paper plant and they married Nov. 1, 1952 at Grand Beach. In 1953 he joined the army (Queens Own Rifles) and that same year their first of five children was born while he was shipped out to Korea for a year. After coming home they moved to Victoria, B.C. for two years and when he was discharged moved back to Winnipeg. He and Emily bought their first home there in 1958. Conrad worked as a Waterworks Engineer at Winnipeg Airport and was then transferred to Stony Mountain Penitentiary until 1974. He and Emily purchased her family's farm in Moose Bay, Manitoba and they farmed there happily for 24 years. In 1998 he retired to Brandon where they purchased an acreage near Shilo. He spent many happy days there golfing until going into Fairview Home. Conrad loved his family and he loved the great outdoors; any spare moment was spent golfing or just puttering in his garage. He loved country music and played guitar and sang for many years. He and his brother were "The Band" in Grand Marais for many years. He loved hockey and Bingo. Conrad and Emily had five children during their 55 years of marriage. Rick (Ricky), of Nanaimo, Micheala (Cella) of Brandon, Deborah of Calgary, Derrick of Edmonton and Jeffrey and wife Liana from Phoenix, Az. He had nine grandchildren; Evan, Brandy, Dylan, Tyler, Amber, Treytan, Krista, Rhea and Owen. Summer was his one and only great grandchild. Conrad had a number of siblings, his older brother Tommy Knott(Illa) of Winnipeg, Muriel Mackelson of Selkirk, Beryl Bouvette of Winnipeg, Marcella (Doc) of Stoney Point, Fern (Earl) Woods of Winnipeg. Wilfred Knott Jr. of Abbotsford, B.C., Patty Knott of Calgary and Sandy (Roland) Knott of Winnipeg, as well as one aunt, Marge Anderson of Victoria Beach. He had numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Wilf and Christina, and one sister, Viola. There will be a service in memory of Conrad at Memories Chapel in Brandon, on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. (viewing at 12:30 p.m), with a lunch to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion #3, 560 - 13th St. East. Interment will be at a later date.
